On a Day We Offer Thanks
The living room seems full enough:
three couples, an adopted son,
and one mostly lame dog. Suddenly,
as the sounds of worship music
and voice trail off into a refrigerator cycle,
The Presence remains. This reverent
moment, interrupted, erupts into an hour
of testimony to divine appointments
and names of people who have long ago
joined the cloud of witnesses.
