Having fun yet? Empty Having fun yet?

Choose to Accept

Peaches, my neighbor’s pig,
black and low to the ground,
is visiting again.  He nuzzles
    close to the normal occupants
of the field, Blackie and Gus
the Guernsey.  Peaches,
content to be nosed,
    wags and chews until Blackie
makes contact.  Aroused,
all three assume a defensive posture
until Peaches leaves
    the Fellowship of the Brethren
until tomorrow.

Having fun yet? Empty Deep and sad.

Interesting form with the indents.
I love the simplicity of it.
The title. I wonder if it's too directive.  Do you fear the reader won't "get" it?
Normal occupants...that sort of broke the image for me.  I had to figure out what to put in the pasture. (I know you like the puzzles.... Smile
I guess I'd rather see "round rumps" and stay with pastoral....
Does Guernsey need to be plural?  Are you talking about 2 cows?
Oh, so Peaches is a male pig.  Smile
Love the club name.
Rejection.  It's everywhere.
Thanks, Todd, for sharing it.

Pat

I love the fun of rumps.  The spaces are substitutes for stanza breaks.

Having fun yet? Empty Line breaks

Post  tsukany Fri Apr 24, 2020 8:20 pm

Pat

Line breaks are my visual peeve.  The two cows are Blackie and Gus the Guernsey.  I had to find a way to show the genus of animal in the poem.

I really love "rumps" I just hope it fits smoothly in the line.

Thanks again

Having fun yet? Empty Comment and photo

Pat et al.

Peaches (not his real name of course) lives several houses away.  It seems that each day he escapes home and heads over for some grass with the neighbors.  I get such joy from his visits.
