Belly Flop (ten letters per subject) Empty Belly Flop (ten letters per subject)

Belly Flop from Obscurity

Basho’s frog could talk.
He was fluent in several
colors of communication.

Yet, language was passion.
He loved to leap and tease ya.
His ultimate prank: synesthesia.

Belly Flop (ten letters per subject) Empty Oh my goodness!

I bet John Han would love this one!  He is the best haiku teacher I know!

I read it 3 times.

I looked up synesthesia.  A way of watching and being?

How playful.  It sounds like a gift to whomever has it.  Not a bad condition at all.

Basho's happy frog came out of nowhere (obscurity) and did a belly flop!  Big splash.
You couldn't see where he was coming from.  You didn't have the gift of synesthesia-- the taste, the smell, etc.
So he could play with ya!

Thank you for the last word.  I would have been lost without it.

Beautiful combination of nature and human condition. I like the simplicity of words, but I have to think HARD.

10 letters per subjects??? I do not get that.

I got synesthesia mixed up with anesthesia! Haha! That makes so much more sense now. My older sister has synesthesia, and I always forgot what it was called.

I also had to look up who Basho was and his frog. I had a good lesson!

Belly Flop (ten letters per subject) Empty Answering a couple questions

Post  tsukany Sun May 28, 2023 6:56 am

Pat and Renee

Renee, always GREAT to hear your thoughts and insights.  Glad you found Basho's frog poem.  I tried a bit of an ekphrastic approach to the poem.  Thank you.

Pat, the forum requires subject lines to have more than ten letter.  Sorry for the confusion.  I use the following definition of synesthesia: using one sense to describe another "Blue like jazz."  I think the poem may need a bit more work for the title.  I have been on a "weak title" kick for weeks (maybe always!).

Bless you both
